Crochet human hair is a hair strand specifically designed for hand-hooked braiding. Its key feature lies in: the middle section of each single hair strand is sewn and fixed by a sturdy cotton thread, thus forming a non-looped, free "V" shaped apex by folding the hair strand, rather than the traditional pre-formed closed-loop structure. During installation, the hand-hooked needle should hook onto this central line instead of the hair ring, thereby fixing the hair strand onto the base braid.
We guarantee that our crochet human hair are 100% human hair. If you want to be 100% sure, you can do a quick burn test. Take one strand and carefully burn it with a lighter. Human hair will burn quickly to ash and smell like burnt feathers. Synthetic hair will melt, curl into a hard bead, and smell like burning plastic.
One pack is two bundles, one bundle is about 50 strands, so one pack is about 100 strands. Typically, 2-3 packs of crochet human hair is enough for a full install. The style, length, and installation process could vary the number of bundles being used. You have to consult a professional in order to find the accurate numbers of braiding hair bundles for yourself.
This is comparable to the weight of a heavy ponytail or a thick hat. Most clients find it comfortable for all-day wear. If you are particularly sensitive to weight, we recommend starting with a slightly smaller style using 2 packs (4 bundles) to see what feels best for you.
With proper installation and care, crochet human hair can typically last between 4 to 8 weeks. However, the exact duration depends heavily on several key factors:
Maintenance: Wash your scalp every 1-2 weeks, moisturize regularly, and protect hair with a satin bonnet at night.
Installation: Ensure braids are secure but not too tight.
Warning: Do not exceed 8 weeks to avoid tangling, matting, or scalp issues.
For best results, remove after 6-8 weeks to protect your natural hair.
Detangle Gently: Before wetting, gently finger-comb or use a wide-tooth comb to remove any knots from the extensions, starting from the ends and working up.
Dilute & Apply Shampoo:
- Mix a small amount of sulfate-free shampoo with water in a spray bottle. This helps apply it directly to the scalp without over-saturating the hair.
- Gently lift the crochet hair and spray the shampoo mixture directly onto your scalp and braided base.
- Use your fingertips (not nails) to gently massage your scalp and cleanse it.
Rinse Thoroughly:
- Tilt your head back under a gentle, cool shower stream.
- Let the water rinse the shampoo through your braids and out of the extensions. Avoid rubbing or twisting the hair.
Condition & Hydrate:
- Apply a lightweight, sulfate-free conditioner or a diluted leave-in conditioner mainly to the mid-lengths and ends of the extensions. Avoid the roots to prevent scalp buildup.
- Leave it in for 3-5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with cool water.
Dry Completely:
- Gently squeeze out excess water with a microfiber towel. Do not wring or twist.
- Air dry completely. Use a hooded dryer on a low, cool setting for faster results. Ensure your scalp and braids are 100% dry to prevent mildew and odor.
Final Moisturize & Style:
- Once dry, apply a light oil or serum to the ends of the extensions for shine.
- Gently style as desired and protect with a satin bonnet overnight.
Wash your crochet style every 1-2 weeks, or as needed based on your activity level.
We recently made a change — instead of two bundles per pack, each bundle is now individually packed in its own smaller pouch. So 3 packs = 6 small pouches (same amount of hair, just more convenient for installation). For a medium head, for full look, recommend 2.5-3 packs.
